Customised, faculty-led programs are ideal for institutional faculties wanting their students to see theory in practice while immersing themselves in the cultural and natural riches of Southern Africa.  Traveling Scholar programs are experiential in nature, promote global citizenship and use the environment as our classroom.

Faculty-led programs are short and ideal when wanting to travel between semesters. These programs usually run over 1 – 5 weeks.

Our Traveling Scholar program development specialist will work with faculty in developing a program that meets their needs and credit requirements.

With more than twenty years of experience in developing short, educational programs and hosting international student groups in Southern Africa, it is important for the members of the Traveling Scholar team to expose students to a real African experience.

Traveling Scholar can host faculty-led programs throughout the year; however, a two to five week South African Summer Program (end-December to mid-January) and a mid-year South African program (May to August) have proven to be the most popular.

Customised, faculty-led programs are usually managed by experienced faculty members who focus on the academic goals of the program. A dedicated Traveling Scholar coordinator will accompany the group for the duration of their stay in South Africa (or any of the other destinations) and see to all other excursions and logistics included augmenting the course content.
