Travelling Scholar firmly believes in lifelong learning. Lifelong learning is the voluntary and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge for personal reasons. Our programs enhance social inclusion, active citizenship, and personal development.
These programs are developed for the mature, mostly retired, individual who is motivated and curious to learn and experience new subjects and locations. Our first programs will commence in February 2020.
The programs on offer are:
Exploring the Frontier
Travel from Port Elizabeth, South Africa through various Frontier Towns up into the majestic Winterberg Mountains. You will spend time with a historian exploring Frontier history while experiencing the natural beauty of the Eastern Cape Province. The program includes authentic regional meals, beautiful nature walks and interesting, off the beaten path site visits.
The Origins of Man
We will meet in the sleepy town of George, South Africa, where we will continue down the Garden Route to our end destination of Arniston. You will spend time with a historian exploring the early Khoi fishing tidal traps and caves where early man lived. The program includes authentic regional meals, beautiful nature and beach walks and interesting, off the beaten path site visits.
